I just wanted to leave a message after stumbling upon your blog by accident recently. I had been searching the net to see if I could find old photographs of a school I helped build in the bush near Mpungu as part of a team of volunteer young people from Raleigh International from June to Sept of 1999. I was hoping at best to find a picture of the school as it was when completed by Raleigh 15 years ago but instead struck gold when I saw your picture from 2010.

The school is the one at Runda and I can sympathise with your comments about it being in the middle of the bush and difficult to get to, imagine how hard it was to get all the materials up from Rundu and down the track to the village!

At first I couldn’t be 100% certain it definitely was the same school despite the same village name and location but then I compared back to some old photos i have of the early construction stage which have the same distinctive bent tree in the foreground. It’s hard to express just how happy it makes me feel to see that it was still there and in use after over a decade.

Anyway, Just to say thanks for posting the photograph (particularly with such accurate location info on Panoramio!) and if you should happen to have any other photos of the school at Runda I would be fascinated to see them and share them with those who I worked with in 1999.

    Kind regards

    Dear Cam and Yvonne,

I am a publisher at Namibia Publishing House.
I came across your blog while searching for images to use in an Environmental Studies Learner’s Book Grade 3.
I like the image of Kaia painting a Namibian flag mural and would like to use it in the book and on the cover.
I am therefore asking for permission to use the bespoke photograph.

I would be happy to send you a copy of the book once it gets published.

Looking forward to your positive response.

    Warm regards,

    Patrycja Chyla-Malima
